Osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) is regulated by a variety of intracellular regulatory factors including osterix, runt‑related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), bone morphogenetic proteins and transforming growth factorβ.
