Telomeres are the end structures of linear chromosomes in eukaryotic cells. The integrity of a telomere is essential for the overall stability of the chromosome. The human protection of telomeres 1 (hPOT1) protein, a single-stranded telomeric DNA binding protein, plays an important role in telomere protection and telomere length regulation.
