Human Oligopeptide transporter 1 (hPepT1) mediates the absorption of dietary peptides and a range of clinically relevant drugs. According to the predicted topological structure hPepT1 contains multiple asparagine residues in putative N-glycosylation sites. This study investigated the influence of the six putative N-glycosylation sites within the extracellular region between transmembrane domains 9 and 10 on hPepT1 transporter function and expression in HEK-293T cells.
