Due to the absence of effective biomarkers, the precision therapy of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) still faces challenge. TP53 is one of the most frequently mutated genes in human cancers including HNSCC. Although studies on the regulation of TP53 gene and p53 protein have been extensively explored, the association of TP53-derived circRNAs with HNSCC progression, along with their regulatory mechanisms, remains unknown. This study identifies a novel circRNA derived from TP53 (circTP53), which is upregulated in HNSCC and associated with poor prognosis.
