Gene Synthesis> | Identity and function of the luxI homologue were determined via cloning and expression study using Gene Synthesis service (GenScript, USA). The target DNA sequence was first synthesised in vector pUC57, and then sub-cloned into E. coliexpression vector pGS21a by the service provider. The expression vector carrying the target sequence was transferred into expression host E. coli BL21 Star (DE3). The expression of the luxI homologue was examined via a cross-streak assay on the transformed host with a CV026 biosensor. AHLs produced were then identified on an LC-MS/MS platform as described previously (20). | Get A Quote |
Quorum sensing (QS) is a regulatory process achieved via cell-to-cell communication that involves release and detection of autoinducers (AIs), and which occurs in a wide range of bacteria. To date, QS has been associated with events of pathogenesis, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance in clinical, industrial, and agricultural contexts. The main objective of this study was to characterise the role of N-Acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) type QS in Hafnia alvei FB1, a bacterial strain isolated from frozen vacuum-packed fish paste meatballs, via identification of QS core genes using a genomic approach, followed by comparative transcriptomic profiling between QS-deficient mutants and wild-type strains.
