Laminin 521, composed of alpha 5, beta 2, and gamma 1 chains, is a reliable matrix for feeder-free culture of human embryonic (hES) and induced pluripotent (hiPS) stem cells. When combined with defined maintenance media, Laminin 521 consistently supports self-renewal of human hES and hiPS cells without spontaneous differentiation.
