Dibasic endopeptidase, also known as Kex2 protease or YscF protease, is responsible in yeast for processing the precursors of killer toxin and α-factor. It is a Ca²⁺-dependent serine protease that specifically recognizes and cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxyl termini of dibasic residues such as Arg-Arg and Lys-Arg.

Product Introduction	Dibasic endoprotease, also known as Kex2 protease or YSCF protease, is a calcium-dependent serine protease in yeast that processes the precursors of killer toxin and α-factor. It specifically recognizes and cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxyl terminus of dibasic amino acid motifs such as Arg-Arg and Lys-Arg. Unlike trypsin, Kex2 does not recognize or cleave peptide bonds following single basic residues (i.e., arginine or lysine alone). Furthermore, Kex2 protease activity is not inhibited by conventional serine protease inhibitors such as aprotinin, PMSF, or TPCK. This product is recombinantly expressed in Pichia pastoris and exhibits the same enzymatic specificity as native Kex2 protease.
