Adeno-associated virus type 8 (AAV8) is a valuable vector for gene therapy. It is one member of the human parvovirus family which depends on co-infection with helper viruses such as adenovirus or herpes virus for efficient reproduction. AAV2 empty capsids are composed of three proteins, VP1, VP2 and VP3 with relative molecular masses of 87, 72 and 62 kDa, respectively.

Specificity	The product recognizes a conformational epitope on AAV-8. No cross-reaction with AAV type 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, DJ, rh.1 in Dot Blot. AAV3, AAV4, AAV7 and AAV10 are not tested.

Working concentrations for specific applications should be determined by the investigators. The appropriate concentrations may be affected by secondary antibody affinity, antigen concentration, the sensitivity of the method of detection, temperature, the length of the incubations, and other factors. The suitability of this antibody for applications other than those listed below has not been determined. The following concentration ranges are recommended starting points for this product.

Reconstitution	Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to a final concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.
Storage Instructions	The lyophilized product remains stable for 1 year at -20°C from the date of receipt. The reconstituted antibody can be stored for 2-3 weeks at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.
