S100 calcium-binding protein A6 (S100A6) is a small calcium binding protein with 2 EF-hand structures and belongs to the S100 family. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 proteins include at least 25 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. S100A6 protein may function in stimulation of Ca2+-dependent insulin release, stimulation of prolactin secretion, and exocytosis. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of this gene have been implicated in melanoma.Recombinant S100 calcium-binding protein A6 (S100A6) with His tag produced in E. coli is a single chain containing 97 amino acids with molecular mass of 11.1 kDa analyzed by reducing SDS-PAGE and is obtained by chromatographic techniques at GenScript.
